Description
THE LAST JOB YOU’LL EVER NEED is a playing-card based TTRPG in which you gamble against The House on what you’re trying to do. If you draw the high card, you win; if the House draws high, they win. And you can keep raising the stakes until you’re satisfied. But remember…
Even when The House loses, it still gets what it wants.
Draw cards to determine your name, your skills, and how you know everyone else. Your skills are based on the card suits.
- Are you a sweet-talking, seductive, deceptive, disguise-wearing grifter? (Hearts)
- Do you use and abuse technology, gathering intelligence, move numbers around in creative ways, make things look like they always were, and other miscellaneous spook bullshit? (Diamonds)
- Perhaps you’re a shadow-lurking, stealthy little acrobat, fit for small spaces, good for enduring punishment, and capable of concealing stolen goods? (Spades)
- Or maybe you’re the right fit when brute force is needed, drugs are required, or someone needs an engine to turn over. (Clubs)
While many tables exist and are populated within the Book (for heist targets, as well as equipment, and PC names), Homebrew tables are included at the back so that you can customise/personalise and theme all features of play with your friends.
The book contains a clear, unambiguous philosophy of play and set of tools for The House. This is a simple way for new players to figure out how things work, and a guide for experienced GM’s on how to raise the stakes.
Finally, the book contains a table of statistics for the number nerds, who want to understand the best way to gamble against The House.
