Description
A Complicated Profession is a 40-page sci-fi RPG zine for 3 to 5 players. It’s intended to be played over 1 or 2 sessions of 3 to 4 hours.
It’s a light-hearted, GM-less storytelling game that’s ideal for a one-shot. It could also be a funny way to end a larger sci-fi campaign like Edge of the Empire or Scum and Villainy.
Although it’s easy to learn, each play-through of ACP is varied and rewarding due to:
- a choice of 8 hunter roles and 8 host roles (64 different combinations!)
- a choice of 9 themed event playbooks, playable in any order
- player-created ship assets that you’re rewarded for using
- randomly generated contracts and passengers
- You can succeed or fail to some degree, but the main aim of ACP is to create a memorable and amusing story together, with prompts and pick lists to help if you’re short of ideas.
It’s possible to play the whole game non-violently if you wish, as there are no combat mechanics. Of course, you could also play it as a swashbuckling shoot-em-up if that’s what your players (or passengers) would enjoy.
