Greetings to all our friends and supporters out there. Here’s an update on what’s been going in with Beyond Cataclysm in the past few months…

What have we been up to?

Airecon

This year’s con at Harrogate Convention Centre was an absolute belter, as always! Airecon is such a friendly and enjoyable con. We met loads of great folks and some familiar faces too. Speaking of familiar faces, here we are, sans Dave who had to leave early to go to a Thrice gig. Boring!

Lucky for None in Space FUNDED

Also this past wee while we successfully launched and funded Lucky for None in Space on Kickstarter. We figured since folks ahve enjoyed our daft d13 comedy horror so much why not to a sci-fi spin off. And you all seem to agree – we funded in half an hour! so if you enjoy playing the likes of Death in Space, Mothership and Alien, why not late pledge here now? You’ll even get a d13. Everyone needs a d13!

MORK ORG went TO PRINT!

We did it!! After years of work and mo

nths proof-reading of preparing print files this week we finally sent all the print files off to our printers, GOMER. We also ordered the OST Cassette Tapes! The Pledgemanager is coming soon, and you still have time to order this gonza office based comedy horror MORK BORG hack here

What’s next?

Fulfilments

We had a very busy month in March, shipping out three different fulfilment projects with three different creators, totalling 850 parcels! We’re busy setting up Pledgemanagers for Befouled by Christian Eichhorn, MORK ORG and Hellspawn, which, if you missed it, is still open for late pledges

UKGE

We’ll be at the delightful UK Games Expo in the Birmingham NEC this May. Be sure to pop by our stall if you’re attending – we always have snacks and drinks available for anyone who needs a wee sit down and a break from the heat and the noise!

And finally:

Chris has been…

Reading…

All the Hornblower books, even the half finished one…

I’ve absolutely devoured the Hornblower series this year, reading all 11, and even joining the Hornblower Society! (Nerd alert!).

Then I’ve moved on to Naomi Novak’s excellent Temeraire series; Napoleonic naval warfare + dragons. What’s not to love?

Listening to…

I’ve been listing to a lot of Michael Nyman inspired piano instrumentals this month, I’d recommend this Pianosequenza album by Francesco Di Fiore. Very chilled background stuff, yet with a subtle urgency, just lurking beneath the surface. Have a listen below:

Playing…

Had a storming game of Salvage Union this month. We were at AireCon and sat down with the creator Panny as they took us through a playtest of one of the new Salvage Union Starter Set adventures.

Also had a great couple of evenings with my wife playing Cube Express. It’s a tidy little Eurogame (see it on the right), doing everything you’d expect from the genre; beige, trains, tile laying, point salad, and the feeling of running out of turns just as you think your engine is about to take off. It also doesn’t outstay its welcome at about 30 minutes playtime; I’d super recommend it.

Dave has been…

Listening to…

  • Dogwood – Seismic (first time on vinyl!)

(Hear some Dogwood here)

  • Good Riddance – Until the World Caves In
  • Brooke Ligertwood – EAT (the first couple of singles so far are BEAUTIFUL!)

MÖRK ORG – over and over and over again. Proof-reading can be fun though!

Playing…

Sat in on the Salvage Union sesh with Panny at Airecon. Nothing else really

Jog has been…

Listening to…

City of the Black Rose from Three Black Halflings. I’ve recently done a deep dive into the world of Mavros, a dark noir and magic setting with just the right amount of humour. Some of the scenes moved me to tears (it’s a good ‘un).

Reading…

I’ve been reading No Place Like Homebrew by Roll & Play Press. I like that I can open on a random page and jump into a new world each time. I keep it by my night stand for easy access.

Playing…

I’m currently playing various random indie games in a weekly one-shot meet up in Dublin. A recent fun game was I’m Sorry Did You Say Street Magic by Caro Asercion, a collaborative city building game (which I insisted on drawing all the locations and neighbourhoods).

That’s all for now friends. Until next time…
